AFM Receives Grant from the LION Foundation
In May 2019, Africa Fire Mission received a generous grant from the LION Foundation that allowed us to grow our team by bringing on our Fire Safety Officer José Ngunjiri. Since then, Africa Fire Mission has made a substantial impact in Africa through our fire prevention programs. We have seen an increase in fire prevention knowledge and firefighter outreach across the communities where we work.
Having a full-time employee in Africa has allowed AFM to connect with communities and pursue our mission in an exciting new way. Now, we are delighted to announce that LION has renewed its commitment to fire services in Africa and community fire prevention through a grant that will provide initial funding for us to employ an additional full-time Fire Safety Advocate in Africa!
Onboarding an additional staff will ensure the sustainability, replication, and effectiveness of our initiatives for years to come. Our new team member will work closely with fire departments in AFM’s partner countries to expand our “train the trainer” model and allow for increased integration with local fire departments.
We are grateful for LION’s generosity. The support of grant partners, donors, and volunteers is vital to AFM’s growth and allows us to make an impact across Africa and around the world. We are excited to share more about this project and others as we continue our work!
